This is a deadstock "Hundred Tigers (Hell)" Aloha shirt, a special edition reissued in 2019 by SUN SURF.

This pattern is considered the king of Japanese-style Aloha shirts and is extremely popular. You'd be hard-pressed to find it in stock anywhere these days.
As a deadstock item, it's incredibly rare.

I've been keeping it as part of my collection, but I'm selling it because the size no longer fits.

"Hundred Tigers" is considered one of the masterpieces among Aloha shirts. The era it was made can be analyzed from details such as the sewing specifications, but the artist remains unknown even after examining many materials. The "KALAKAUA" brand, which handled the vintage, is also shrouded in mystery, with the only known fact being that it was based in Honolulu, Oahu.

However, there is no doubt that this work, with its bold composition yet delicate and intricate details and overflowing dynamism, is a masterpiece that brought together the best of Japanese printing technology in the 1950s. Its perfect print presents a high hurdle for reproduction, but that fact also stimulates the maker's enthusiasm, just as it did back then. After repeated trial and error with craftsmen, and after a process that took three years, the "Hundred Tigers" roars again in the present day.

For this re-release of the Hundred Tigers, Sun Surf completely rebuilt the printing plates from scratch based on the deadstock vintage they own. They adjusted the unique colors of the dyes used at the time, accurately counted all the more than 10,000 tiger stripes in the design composed of 17 tigers, and reproduced the original without any deviation by layering 14 colors of printing plates that were intricately carved. Furthermore, they achieved a complete reproduction by using the same "KALAKAUA" name as the vintage.
