Overview

Electrician - Project Support

Duration: 6-12 months

Hours: 40-50 hours per week, day shift (10 hours per day)

Location: Surry Nuclear, Surry, VA

For Industrial Electricians to support modifications in a nuclear power plant

Responsibilities

• Journeyman Electrician with experience in new construction and maintenance modifications
• Installation/fabrication of conduit and supports
• Installation of copper and fiber cables
• Cable terminations and modifications
• Installation of power and control panels / switch gear
• Ability to use a multimeter to include Live-Dead-Live testing
• Raychem splicing of low voltage
• Electrical safe work practices
• Clearance order verifications
• Temporary power installation
• Experience in nuclear power as a Journeyman Electrician

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years experience working in Nuclear Power Plants as an industrial Journeyman Electrician
• NCCER Industrial Electrician certification or equivalent experience
• Must have had a current Nuclear Security Clearance (Red Badge) within the last 364 days
• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent; must be at least 18 years of age
• Must be able to pass an on-site industrial electrician proficiency test

Work Environment

The essential functions include standing, walking, climbing, lifting, carrying, twisting, kneeling, stooping, bending and crouching as required. The role involves handling equipment weighing 1 to 100 lbs and may occur in environments such as confined spaces, high temperature areas, and elevated heights. Physical demands range from medium to heavy. Employees may need to wear appropriate personal protective equipment in an industrial setting.

• Visual acuity, balance, coordination, manual dexterity, and hearing
• Climbing ability
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs
• Ability to read and write complex documents in English
• Ability to reason, focus for long periods, and think strategically
• Ability to walk job sites
